Emilie is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2015. In 2021, she completed her Master of Science with a concentration in Family Psychiatric Mental Health. Over her career, she feels fortunate to have worked with diverse populations including inmates, Indigenous peoples, LGBTQIA+, and those diagnosed with various disabilities. These individuals taught her the interconnectedness between multi-generational trauma and chronic, comorbid health conditions. She values unique perspectives and understands the impact of ongoing racial tensions and political climate on mental and physical health. She also recognizes the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and traumas on substance use disorders and decision making. Through her experiences, she has gained valuable knowledge and is comfortable treating complex Trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Emilie’s philosophy on treatment places medication management as just one part of successful recovery, whether from substance use or serious mental illness. Her practice focuses on respect, building trust, and appreciation of cultural and individual diversity. She believes in evidenced-based, patient-centered and holistic care. This includes actively encouraging therapy, development of coping skills, self-care practices, and coordination with medical services/specialties for medical concerns. She will model and promote boundaries and therapeutic communication to support healthy relationships.
Emilie’s interests include traveling, fishing, baking, reading, and listening to podcasts. She was an Archaeologist in her former career, which transformed into a fascination with antiques and fossils, and collecting far too many rocks.
