Dr. Laird is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Nurse Specialist. She has been in private practice for 8 years and holds diploma in nursing from Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing, a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s in psychiatric nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University (formerly Medical College of Virginia). Her doctorate in education is from Nova Southeastern University and a certificate as a psychiatric nurse practitioner is from the University of Virginia. Dr. Laird has worked in various mental health settings (private practice, in-patient acute care settings, home care, and a community service board) since graduating from nursing school. She also has extensive background in academia centered around nursing education.
Dr. Laird sees patients ages 18 and up, treating individuals with various mental health issues including depression, anxiety, and ADHD. She believes in holistic care and encourages patients and family to participate in therapy along with medication management. Dr. Laird also believes that the patient has a voice in their treatment plan and sees the professional relationship as partnership.
